Camping

Camping is good. Out in the midst of nature I'm easily mesmerized by the flames of the crackling campfire, comforted by the peacefulness of floating in the canoe across the still lake. As sunset approaches, nature sings as the frogs and crickets and various other little creatures begin their harmonious concert. A peek at the deer roaming about and the feeling of awe when we're fortunate enough to witness a shooting star. In those moments, all is well in the world God created for us to enjoy.

But, have you ever camped with two teenage girls? Now that can be a challenge, at times. I remember being a teenage girl...vaguely. I understand the importance of hair products and various electrical appliances needed for daily care to the young women we've been blessed with...the need to feel presentable before taking that hike, or heading out for an adventure in the kayak.

There is something about camping, though. Getting a good dose of God's creation. Experiencing it all firsthand. The beauty in the little things all around us that we miss in our daily, busy lives.
