As I was reading my Bible tonight, I was reminded that God is always at work in our lives. We aren't able to see the whole picture - know the end of the story. So often we wish we could! If we had all the answers to our questions about a situation, we tell ourselves we'd know exactly what to do. If we only knew this or that...then we would do what was best. The problem is...we have no way of knowing what's best, even when we feel we do. We don't know how God is working in the hearts of those around us...and we may not know what God is working on accomplishing through us. We may have a goal in mind for ourselves, but God may have a very different and much more important work to do when placing us in a particular situation. Scripture tells us God's ways and thoughts are higher than ours. I wouldn't dare argue that! I believe it fully.
Our faith is tested when we find ourselves on uncertain ground. The question we find ourselves faced with is this...Do we truly trust God? Saying we do is easy. But living like we do is a totally different story. Do we claim to trust His Word and then try to manipulate our own circumstances to achieve the outcome we long for? Or, do we seek God first...before we make a move? We can quote scripture 'till we're blue in the face...but unless His Word has reached our hearts and we are living it out...it will make no difference in our lives. So, we must step out in faith, leave the uncertainty of it all to the One who does know the outcome; the One that undoubtedly knows what's best; the One that loves us above all others. We put ourselves and our loved ones in His tender care and trust Him. Truly trust Him...knowing that if the outcome isn't what we want...He is there with us. His strength, His peace and comfort is available to all who love Him and He will see us through.
